| Description | Provides out-of-home respite support for children and adults * Respite services give families a break or rest, provides an experience of being away from home * Homes have 24-hour staffing providing a variety of overnight options including weekend and organized drop-in * Organized drop-in is an advanced booking to have people come for a few hours when there is a formal activity such as movie night, the service is on an as needed basis as demand for longer periods of respite are most common * Activities for individuals who stay at the facilities include crafts, games, attending major community events, out of town trips, virtual technology games where the individuals watch themselves playing virtual games on a computer * The virtual games are designed to enhance mobility and teach skills * The needs of the people are met based on information provided by family members, medical professionals and other professionals in their lives; provides self-care and daily living needs, and encourages skill development based on recognized abilities and needs Child Respite Services located at 95 St Anthony St Chatham, ON 519-351-2156; Adult Respite Services located at 269 Forest St Chatham, ON 519-354-4284 | |||
