DescriptionProvides programs and services for families during all stages of life, including information and advice about family health, parenting and infant care

Services include classes and support programs before pregnancy, during and after birth * other services work to support all individuals including babies, children, young adults, and older adults * referral to Health Unit and community program


Blind Low Vision Early Intervention Program - Provides specialized family-centred services for children who are diagnosed as being blind or having low vision * services include family support, assessment and intervention and consultation and are provided by specially trained Early Childhood Vision Consultants * Middlesex London Health Unit administers program and contracts with CNIB to deliver services

Child Safety Middlesex London - Website with universal tips for keeping kids out of harm's way

Family Health Clinic - Nurse Practitioner and other health professionals provide screening for health problems, prenatal care, well baby/child checkups, vaccines/shots, treatment of common illnesses, and referrals to specialists * provide service for families with children 0-6 years old and teenagers who do not have a family doctor

Growth & Development - Is Your Baby Progressing - Answers questions about child development from birth to 3 years * trained screeners discuss child development through fun, interactive sessions * sessions are approximately 45 minutes in length * for more information about growth and development, and the enhanced 18-month well baby visit with your health care provider, visit

Health Library - Collection focuses on health promotion and disease prevention, which the public can use in-house and provides reference, interlibrary loan and current awareness services to public health professionals and students on placement

Healthy Aging - Healthy aging web links

Healthy Babies Healthy Children - Public health nurses, family home visitors, and social workers provide health information, nutritional support, prenatal information, information on infant care, child development, parenting support, connecting to community supports and resources * services provided for pregnant mothers and families with young children up to the age of six years

Infant Hearing Program - Southwest Region - Provides hearing screening for all newborn infants in the hospital or in the community * follow up supports and services provided to children from birth to school age who are identified with permanent hearing loss * services include audiology, communication development, family support.

Parenting Education Classes - Various programs offered for parents of children from birth to the teen years

Post Partum Depression - Information and resources related to dealing with Post Partum Depression as an individual or family member

Prenatal Education Program - Provides information to pregnant women and their partners or supports

Public Health Dietitians - Registered dieticians provide reliable, up-to-date information about healthy eating and healthy weights throughout the life cycle from newborn to older adults

Smart Start for Babies - Free prenatal nutrition and support program for pregnant women and teens and their partner or support person * offered at various locations in London and in Strathroy * weekly classes on healthy nutrition, healthy lifestyle choices, prenatal education, newborn care

Well Baby, Child and Breastfeeding Clinics - Visit www.healthunit.com/well-baby-child-and-breastfeeding-clinics for clinic times and locations * drop-in with your children of 0-4 years of age * a public health nurse is available for one-on-one discussions regarding child feeding and care, safety, the adjustment to being a parent, community resources, etc. in a relaxed, supportive setting * offers checking of child's weight, discussion about their growth and development and opportunity to meet other new parents in the area * no appointment necessary * available in both London and Middlesex County
