DescriptionProvides an early response to the mental health needs of elementary school children who present with behavioural difficulties in the school/family setting

Clinical intervention components offered:
  • Intake
  • Comprehensive assessment
  • Referral to existing community resources that may augment and/or better suit the child’s needs
  • Referral to existing school-based programs for skill development and academic intervention or assessment
  • Quick access to medical and mental health resources for diagnostic and treatment planning
  • Child interventions using a behavioural and developmental approach with focus on teaching social/behavioural competencies, developing peer relationship, and building self-efficacy
  • Parent skill training in effective behaviour management methods - Triple P
  • Classroom behaviour modification methods and behavioural strategies
  • Education regarding behavioural difficulties/disorders
  • Information sharing and consultation for parents and school personnel regarding community resources and programs for both child and adult

The partnership involves of a number of organizations: Child and Adolescence Mental Health Care Program- Children's Hospital/LHSC ; Merrymount Children’s Centre (MCC) ; Vanier Children’s Services (Vanier) ; the London District Catholic School Board (LDCSB) ; the Thames Valley District School Board (TVDSB) ; and Oxford Elgin Child and Youth Centre (OECYC)
