Agency Information
Description (Agency) The Blenheim Youth Centre is a place where young people of the community (ages 8-18) can gather together in a safe environment. As a means of providing young people “something to do” we offer daily after-school programming that allows the youth to develop social and life skills.
The BYC is open every weekday for young people to take part in activities such as cooking classes, homework help, recreational activities, social skill building, employment resources such as resume writing and interview preparation as well as leisure activities with access to computers with internet, video game consoles, and pool and ping pong tables. We encourage and facilitate being involved in the community and provide an opportunity for volunteer hours required for graduation.
Core Values
Respect and belonging
We provide a safe place, where every child is listened to, respected and valued in a safe environment of inclusion and acceptance. Our staff and volunteers model honesty, fair play, positive attitude, co-operation and respect for self and others.
Through adventure, play, and discovery, we encourage and empower the children and youth at the centre to develop healthy lifestyles, to learn strong, life skills and a sense of social responsibility.
We work together with families and volunteers in partnership with the public and private sector, to create healthy community solutions to provide children and youth with what they need for optimal development.
