Description (Service) Social assistance program that provides employment assistance and financial support for basic needs

Financial Assistance - Short term income assistance for the cost of shelter and basic needs including food and clothing * also offers emergency assistance for items of extreme need such as: medical supplies (diabetic supplies, surgical supplies), and medical travel and transportation

Employment Assistance - Supports to help people become and stay employed, such as job search support, basic education, employment placement, skills training, community participation, and participation in substance abuse recovery programs * financial assistance is provided to clients to cover certain related expenses such as bus transportation, child care and clothing * services provided by local Employment Resource Centres

Child Care - Child care fee subsidy program for children based on income

Family Support Program - Assists Ontario Works recipients to obtain child and spousal support payments

Housing Links for People (HeLP) - Immediate financial assistance to low-income households to prevent homelessness * may provide funds related to utility bills in arrears, rent arrears, food vouchers, necessities to set up a permanent residence, and other expenses to prevent homelessness

Discretionary Benefits - Financial assistance for special items of extreme need may be provided to eligible recipients

Learning, Earning, and Parenting (LEAP) Program - Supports to help parents complete high school, enhance their parenting skills, and prepare them to enter the workforce

Winter Warmth - Union Gas subsidy program * assists lower-income families with arrears amounts on their Union Gas bill
