Description (Service) The Navy League focuses on three key programs:

Maritime Affairs
Concerned with the prosperity of Canada’s agricultural, industrial, and business sectors, in generating economic expansion as facilitated by good marine transportation, maritime safety and protection, and trade facilities, as well as contributing to the assurance that we Canada will always have a relevant and sustainable Navy.

Royal Canadian Sea Cadets
Youth program delivered in partnership with the Department of National Defence. The program provides opportunities and challenges, development of leadership skills, good citizenship and physical fitness.

Sea Cadets participate in a variety of activities including:
* boating and sailing
* swimming watersports
* camping
* citizenship (parades, community events)
* marksmanship and biathlon
* sports and fitness
* naval knowledge
* leadership training
* local, regional and national competitions

Navy League Cadets
Program is designed to offer activities that are both fun and educational.

Navy League Cadets participate in a variety of activities:
* learn about boating and water safety
* go camping
* participate in parades and community events
* play sports
* learn knot tying, communications and other seamanship skills
* go on citizenship tours and other trips
* some corps offer a music program

Note: While the programs introduce cadets to what the Navy is all about, Cadets are not members of the Canadian Forces and are free to leave the program at any time. There is absolutely no expectation to join the armed forces upon completion of the cadet programs.
