|Description (Service)||In partnership with The County of Lambton, this program offers low-cost, basic home maintenance and repair to low income homeowners who may be at risk of housing instability or even homelessness if repairs are not completed.
Habitat Handyman's services are delivered by professional staff assisted by a volunteer team inclusive of individuals in receipt of Ontario Works with the intent that volunteer participants will benefit from community involvement while being provided with hands-on experience aimed at enhancing employable skillsets.
Handyman services offered include but are not limited to: in/exterior general carpentry; cabinet removal & installation; kitchen/bathroom repair & renovation; vinyl siding repair/removal & installation; drywall installation & repair; in/exterior painting; installation of flooring (laminate & ceramic); installation of insulation; and deck/porch repair & maintenance. The Handyman will receive requests for services not listed above but reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to accept a home improvement project. The Handyman does not offer: electrical, plumbing, HVAC or roofing services.

|Eligibility||* Must be in receipt of Ontario Works to be a program volunteer
* Low income homeowners are eligible to apply for this service
* Must provide proof of income which will be referenced against High Needs Household Income Limits (or HILS tables) published by Service Ontario
* Program is not currently offered to those who rent, or whose income is above the HILS guidelines
|Application||* Homeowners wishing to apply to receive Handyman services should call or log on to website and select the Habitat Handyman icon for deails.
* Individuals in receipt of Ontario Works who are interested in volunteering for this program should contact their Case Worker for details.
* Others interested in volunteering in support of the program should log on to website and click on the Volunteer icon.
|Fees||Service - Minimum labor charge of $50 for all projects. ; Homeowners re-pay the cost of materials purchased on their behalf by the Handyman (no mark-up) and $25/hour for labor which includes the service of staff carpenter and up to four volunteers * Repayment for materials must be received prior to the commencement of a project * The number of volunteers will depend on the nature of the project *|
