Description (Service) | Eating disorders prevention and education program * non-threatening educational program * teaches children the importance of healthy self-esteem, healthy attitudes about eating and an acceptance of all body shapes and sizes in children, Body Based Harassment * program is also available in children's libraries, museums and community organizations which offer children's programming Be Yourselfer’s Puppet Project This program consists of a puppet show, presented in video format. *Topics include: Bullying, body-based harassment, and nutrition. Topics are further reinforced through Q&A sessions and interactive educational activities. *Each puppet program (video and follow up activity) runs approximately 20-30 minutes in length. Self-esteem and Body Image workshops: * teaches young people to increase their confidence in their unique talents, abilities and interests * reduces their reliance on physical appearance as their main measure of self worth * discussion about healthy eating and media messages * grades 5-8 Sizing Up the Media: * Decoding the Messages, a unique presentation that examines how the images of women in the media have left our population with feelings of negative body image, inadequacy and low self-esteem * through the use of visual aids, workshop encourages viewers to re-evaluate the images presented by the advertising industry and to take action against these toxic messages * Prevention workshops on Self-esteem, body image and health eating for grades 5-8; Workshops on Media Literacy for High schools, Post-secondary and adult groups Areas Served: Windsor and Essex |
