Description and Service Details
Description (Service) International Driver's Permits allow travellers to drive in more than 150 different countries, when accompanied by a valid driving license  
* Some countries require travellers to carry special driving permits in addition to their regular driver's license 
* CAA is the only organization in Canada authorized to issue an International Driving Permit 
* The IDP is proof that you possess a valid driver's license issued by a competent authority in Canada. 
* It translates your driving qualifications into ten of the world's most commonly used languages, and it allows travellers to drive in over 150 different countries without further tests or applications.  
 
How long does it take to get an IDP?  
* visit a CAA South Central Ontario Store, the application process takes approximately 15 minutes.  
* If the IDP application is being mailed (allow at least three weeks for delivery) 
 
How To obtain an International Driving Permit? 
* Print the IDP Application, complete it and submit it to your local CAA Club.

Requirements for the International Drivers Permit: 
* Must be 18 years of age or over 
* produce a current valid Canadian G2 or G driver's license (regardless of nationality) 
* provide 2 passport size photographs 
* pay a fee of $25.00 CAD in order to obtain the IDP for 1 year 
* complete & sign a CAA Application form (no other form is acceptable) 
* non member are also eligible to purchase IDP's 
* IDP's are only available through CAA Travel Stores
Application How to obtain an International Driving Permit?

* Mailed in applications must include the fee payment either by credit card or in the form of a bank draft, money order or cheque in Canadian funds drawn on a Canadian financial institution payable to your local CAA Club.

* Photocopy (front and back) of a valid Canadian provincial driver’s licence 
* 2 passport type photographs 
* Fee payment of $25.00 
* Complete and sign the CAA IDP application form (no other form is acceptable)
