Description (Service) Ontario Disability Support Program helps people with disabilities 
 
Income Support  
* financial help 
* Employment Supports 
* drug coverage 
* dental coverage 
* vision care 
* hearing aids 
* diabetic supplies 
* help with transportation costs to medical appointments 
* wheelchair/mobility device repairs and batteries 
* help to support a person's guide dog 
* help with work-related expenses, Employment Support 
 
New Changes to the Way Social Assistance Clients Access Drug Coverage: 
Ontario Health Card Program for Social Assistance Clients receiving; 
* Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) 
* Assistance for Children with Severe Disabilities (ACSD) 
* Ontario Works (OW) and Temporary Care Assistance (TCA) 
 
* The program was introduced to replace the paper drug Eligibility Card used by social assistance clients with their Ontario Health Card in order to access prescription medication under the Ontario Drug Benefit program. 
* Once the client’s card is swiped the pharmacist will be able to identify the individual is a social assistance recipient

Eligibility Ages: 18 year(s) and up 
 
You may qualify for Income Support if you: 
* are 18 years of age or older  
* live in Ontario  
* are in financial need, and have a substantial physical or mental disability that; 
* is expected to last a year or more, and  
* makes it hard for you to care for yourself, take part in community life or work.  
 
 
To be eligible for Employment Supports, you must: 
* be 16 years of age or older  
* be a resident of Ontario 
* be able to work in Canada  
* have a disability that is expected to last a year or more, and  
* have a disability that makes it hard for you to find or keep a job.
Application Application process can be initiated through Ontario Works (OW) office 
* Must show complete medical information 
* Must meet all financial criteria 
 
If you are applying for Income Support, please note that there are two parts to the application process: 
Part one looks at your financial situation 
Part two looks at your disability status 
 
If you need help right now to pay for food, housing and other living costs, you can apply for financial assistance under Ontario Works. 
* If you qualify, Ontario Works staff will be able to help you right away.  
* They will also help you apply for Ontario Disability Support Program Income Support.
