Description and Service Details
Description (Service) Initial Shelter, settlement supports and connection to community for **refugee claimants**. 
* assistance with refugee claim process 
* connection to community services and supports like Legal Aid, Social Assistance and Housing 
* transportation and accompaniment to appointments  
* help with translation and interpretation  
* orientation to Canadian life  
* connection to establish Canadians who can help individual or family settle 
* help finding permanent housing, furnishings, dishes, and other household items 
* assistance locating volunteer and employment opportunities 
* volunteer opportunities available both at Matthew House, and by friending Refugee Claimants and helping them settle in community.
Hours Office: Mon-Fri, 9 am-3 pm
Areas Served Chatham-Kent ; Essex County ; Windsor
Eligibility Newly landed refugee claimants and their immediate families. Support available until they are deemed a Convention Refugee and/or are able to receive supports from IRCC funded agencies.
Application Appointment recommended.
